Car Insurance Ford (Car Insurance). Do all 1998 honda type R "hatchbacks" have the label on it?Do all 1998 honda type R "hatchbacks" have the label on it? Like does it HAVE to HAVE the red Honda symbol and the label that says "Civic Type R" on the car. I found a car on the internet and it has a B18c5 engine in it which is a Type R engine from the integra Type R cars, but it's in a Hatchback EK?... Does it mean that Hatchback is a Type R car without it having a label or anything? Yes, All JDM & UKDM TYPE -R come equipped with an authentic Honda red badge from the factory. BTW THE CTR HAS A B16B NOT A B18C5. Engine swaps are pretty popular in the states, despite the swap it still not up to a par with a true TYPE R Uni-body without extensive modification in my opinion. One can own a CTR and remove the badge to avoid extra attention. Still, people now a days buy a set of red badges for cosmetic reason.Hope that clear things up. CTR's have a B16B and those only come in hatchback form with 4 wheel disc brakes and 5 lug, Seeing that it has a B18C5 which means that it was swapped with a USDM type R motor (JDM honda vechicles do not have the number at the end of the engine code i.e. B16A2/3 B18C1/5) But red honda badges mean that its a type R but techincally speaking it is a type R since it has a type R swap but chassis wise not its not a type R. Hatches come in DX and CX form only Type R trim also in japan and other countries. Auto parts : Vehicle Weighing Scale Acura 1995 . Vinyl Repair Kit Alfa Romeo 1996 . Vise Jaw Pads Audi 1997 . I currently have a 1994 2WD toyota pick up truck with 180,000 miles on it. I want to sell it for 3,800 because it's a gas guzzler. I have a 525 HP Boss 351 Cleveland swapped into an '86 Thunderbird. The engine idles at 1,400 RPM with about 6-6.5" of vacuum. The cam is a Cam Dynamics grind with 266/276 @ .050 and .616/.642 lift on 108 centers.....(maybe 106's... I used to run this motor with a "Glide and a brake.) The 8itch is free-flowing idle fuel!!) it wants more idle fuel. Within the past six weeks, my car (a 2003 Dodge Neon with 78,800 miles) has been in the shop five times. I've had the rack and pinion replaced and two new tires. Then a new transmission (twice), rear brakes and most recently, something in the cooling system (fans, a fuse and air conditioner recharging). Out of the last 46 days, it's been in the shop 24. The transmission was under warranty, but the rack and pinion, tires, rear brakes and the cooling system problems were out of pocket, costing $1040, 570 and 670, respectively. If something else were to go wrong within the next few months, I could not afford to repair it. The solution to my problem would be easy if I did not still have 2 1/2 years left to pay off a 4-year loan. Without looking it up, I couldn't tell you exactly how much I owe at this point, but I'm probably upside down on the loan. In my situation, does it make sense to keep driving it and fixing it as long as possible, or trading it in and rolling it into a loan for another car? car insurance. Ford . How to Change Mustang BrakesIn the early 2000s, the Mustang got a makeover with a different body style and greater pollution controls. With the revamp in styling came a renewed interest in the car. Thanks to today's longer-lasting brake materials, there is very little maintenance that needs to be done to the Mustang's all-wheel disc brakes. However, every now and then the brakes will need to be changed. For most home mechanics, this process will be fairly simple and straightforward. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Socket wrench set Car jack New brake pads Lug nut wrench Pliers Step by Step : 1 Park the Mustang on a level surface and slide the jack underneath the front driver's side tire. Use a lug nut wrench to loosen the lug nuts and then jack the car up so that the wheel is off of the ground. 2 Unscrew the lug nuts the rest of the way and pull the wheel off of the wheel studs. Use socket wrenches to remove the two mounting bolts (one on top and one on bottom) on the brake caliper underneath the wheel. 3 Use pliers to pull the old brake pads out of the caliper, then insert the new ones. Slide the caliper back over the disc and remount it with the mounting bolts. 4 Slide the wheel back in place, tighten down the lug nuts and lower the car down off of the jack. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the remaining three wheels. Tips & Warnings To make it easier to remove the caliper and pads, unscrew the cap of the brake fluid reservoir. Just remember to build pressure back up in the system by pumping the brake pedal a few times after closing the cap. ResourcesBuy Mustang Brakes at Autozone.com
Ford . Causes of Warped Brake RotorsBrake rotors are like almost any other vehicle mechanical part in that they are susceptible to damage. Although not a routine source of major mechanical problems, brake rotors can become damaged or warped from a variety of causes. What follows is a brief list of the most common causes of warped brake rotors. Excessive Heat Brake rotors are very susceptible to excessive heat, especially heat related to excessive brake pad friction. If brake rotors are exposed to excessive heat levels for a prolonged period of time, they can become warped and damaged. Physical Damage Many times brake rotors are damaged during tire changes, especially as the results of a faulty jack stand or hydraulic jack that fails and allows the car and the brake rotor mechanism to fall to the ground, thus severely damaging and/or warping the brake rotor. Malfunctioning Brake Pads Malfunctioning brake pads can severely damage and/or warp a set of brake rotors. Brake pads that are cracked, broken or incorrectly installed can cause physical damage to brake rotors, damage that can include cracks, breaks or warping. Malfunctioning Brake Calipers Brake calipers are responsible for squeezing brake pads against spinning brake rotors, a process that produces a vehicle's braking action. Malfunctioning brake calipers can apply abnormal amounts of squeezing action over time, a condition that can seriously warp a set of brake rotors. Damaged Hub Assembly Brake rotors spin around a vehicle's hub assembly, which is a long, slender rod that houses the wheel bearings and provides the anchor to which a vehicle's tire affixes to. A bent or damaged hub assembly can cause a rotor to turn abnormally, a condition that can lead to warping of the brake rotor. *around. Now take a closer look at what goes on when you shift into each gear. In Low gear, the gears in the transmission make the driveshaft (and therefore the wheels) turn more slowly than the engine. In fact, the driveshaft may turn only once for every, four engine revolutions. All the power of the swiftly running engine is channeled into those few turns. The wheels turn more slowly, but they have more power to put into each turn, so your car can start, climb a hill, or pull a trailer. Not only does the engine run faster, but you also have the mechanical advantage of the big gear providing more leverage by turning slowly but with more force. In Second gear, the engine turns more slowly than it did in Low, putting out less power but more speed because the wheels can turn more quickly. In this gear, the driveshaft may turn once for every two engine revolutions, or twice as fast as in Low gear. In High gear, the gear ratio can drop to around 1:1, which means that the engine and the driveshaft turn at relatively the same rate of speed. The wheels can go very fast; yet the engine doesn't put out additional power to produce that speed. Because you've overcome inertia by the time you shift into high gear and generally have nothing more to contend with than wind 419

In Fifth gear, the ratio is usually an overdrive of around 0.75:1, which means that the engine can turn more slowly than the output shaft's speed. You want to be at that ratio on the highway for good fuel economy. However, you do need to downshift if you want to pass someone, because you don't have much engine power with this ratio. Automatic Transmissions Did you know that today's automatic transmissions are computer-controlled hydraulic systems? Previous automatic transmissions were mechanically controlled. This section covers the basic features of both. An automatic transmission works on the same basis as a manual transmis sion does, with a gear selector on the steering column or floor to allow you to tell the car to park, idle, go in reverse, go forward at varying speeds, or Ford . But instead of a manual clutch, an automatic transmission uses a torque converter and hydraulic pressure to change gears automatically. The torque converter replaces the standard transmission's clutch. The torque converter is a fluid coupling that transfers power from the engine to the transmission input shaft. It allows for smooth transfer of power and at highway speeds can be locked up to reduce slippage and improve fuel economy. Shifting in an automatic transmission is controlled by either a hydraulic system or an electronic system. Hydraulically controlled transmissions con sist of an intricate network of valves and other components along with hydraulic pressure to control the operation of planetary gearsets (see Figure 9-6). These gearsets can be fashioned to generate three, four, or five forward speeds. Ford . Where is the inline filter for the air conditioning on your 1995 S 10?

As the engine speed changes, the pump that pumps the transmission fluid to develop hydraulic pressure also changes speed. The transmission fluid responds to the changes in pressure by flowing through the transmission at different rates. When the car is moving slowly, the pressure is low, and only the low gears respond. In Drive, as the car's speed increases, so does the pressure, and higher gears are brought into play. The hydraulic pressure drives the transmission gears by means of friction bands and plates. These bands and plates do the same thing that the clutch on a manual transmission does — they pull various gears into and out of action. When mechanics tell you that your bands need adjusting, these are the bands they're talking about. They can usually make this adjustment without taking the transmission apart.
